Put Politics Before Long Island Communities
LaLota publicly threatened to cut off federal funding for local communities over policy disagreements. Instead of fighting to bring needed funding home to Long Island, he’s choosing despicable tactics and threats over local priorities.

Inadequate and Temporary SALT Relief
LaLota loves to brag about raising the SALT deduction cap, but this typical Washington backroom deal didn’t fully restore the deduction because LaLota was forced to compromise with leaders in Congress and come up with a gimmick. In exchange for his vote, he agreed to make the SALT deduction cap permanent and the raise in the cap temporary. The whole thing is scheduled to expire in a few years and the SALT deduction cap will go back to where it was! . LaLota is hoping you don’t notice the fine print, but the truth is it’s a bad deal.

Failed to Fight Higher Cost of Living
Long Island families continue to struggle with rising housing costs, healthcare premiums, insurance, and everyday expenses. Instead of delivering meaningful affordability relief, LaLota supported policies that many argue have left everyone paying more, including Trump’s tariffs (taxes) on everyday goods, which have cost the average household over $2,500 per year and the war with Iran, which has raised gas prices and cost the average family more than $1,100 extra in costs.

Put Hospitals and Healthcare at Risk
Healthcare leaders have warned that federal funding reductions tied to the One Big Beautiful Bill will place additional financial pressure on Long Island hospitals and providers while forcing many residents to seek more expensive coverage or go uninsured.
Indifference to Ethics and Corruption
Last year Nick LaLota’s brother won a sweetheart deal with the Department of Homeland Security – a no-bid contract. LaLota didn’t disclose any of it, as he should have, instead waiting for reporters to uncover it. It’s all part of LaLota turning a blind eye as Washington descends further into corruption and lack of ethics and transparency.

Missing in the Community
Long Islanders deserve a representative who is accessible and accountable. LoLota continues to hide from his constituents. He hasn’t held a single open town hall that any Long Islander can attend since 2023. Instead, he chooses handpicked audiences and telephone calls instead of answering ALL Long Islanders’ questions.

Fiscal Responsibility?
LaLota regularly campaigns on fiscal responsibility, yet voted for legislation that the Congressional Budget Office projected would add approximately $4.1 trillion to the federal deficit over the next decade. LaLota is more interested in financing tax cuts for the wealthy than in being a responsible steward of the nation’s finances.
Weakening Infrastructure and Coastal Resilience
LaLota likes to talk about the infrastructure bills he’s sponsored, but which haven’t been passed by Congress. Meanwhile, he stood by as Congress gutted crucial programs designed to protect and prepare Long Island’s beloved coastline against storms and erosion. Long Island is one of the country’s most vulnerable coastlines, yet LaLota and Congress have supported devastating cuts in EPA and NOAA programs, including flood modeling and mapping, assistance to local governments and scientific expertise.
